Telecom and cybersecurity vendors profit from optimized Qosmos DPI software on Intel® DPDK
Network Intelligence technology provider Qosmos today announced optimized support for the Intel® Data Plane Development Kit (Intel® DPDK) in its ixEngine line of next-generation Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) software. As a result, Qosmos’ network equipment and solution provider customers benefit from the only ready-to-use DPI software development kit to natively support Intel® DPDK, accelerating time to market for advanced mobile, cybersecurity, and network applications.
Qosmos offers Network Intelligence (NI) technology based on next-generation Deep Packet Inspection (DPI). Its products deliver visibility into data crossing networks by identifying, extracting and querying specific information with unparalleled precision and detail. This visibility into data flows, coupled with the high-performance packet processing in the data plane enabled by Intel® DPDK, greatly improves the performance of network-centric applications such as policy control, traffic optimization, and next-generation cybersecurity systems.
In the past, packet processing functions have often required special-purpose hardware, however the availability of the Intel® DPDK means that Qosmos’ solution vendor customers can benefit from a single blade architecture for consolidation of all their application, control, and packet processing workloads on Intel® multi-core processors. This development offers huge boosts in performance and processing to reduce hardware costs, simplify the application development environment, and reduce Time to Market.
“The combination of Qosmos DPI technology with the advanced packet processing capabilities of Intel® DPDK means that vendors in the telecom and cybersecurity markets can take full advantage of the latest generation of Intel® processors,” said Thibaut Bechetoille, CEO of Qosmos.
“The latest generation of Intel processors delivers high-performance, cost-effective platforms for the advanced applications that our customers in the telecoms and cybersecurity markets require to remain competitive. The Intel® Data Plane Development Kit is a software library that enables Qosmos to showcase the true performance potential of multicore Intel® architecture platforms,” said Steve Price, director of marketing, Communications Infrastructure Division at Intel Corporation.
Qosmos will be showcasing its Intel® DPDK integration in its booth, no.2158, at the RSA Conference in San Francisco 27 February – 2 March 2012.
